SLC #4

I bought a really beautiful silver water pitcher last week and I was soooooo excited to use it in the next Still Life Club set-up! What I didn't realize is how difficult it would be to paint!!

Here's this week's super - challengeing set-up...

Still Life Club #3

I was really happy with the set-up this week. I found the cuuutest container full of jelly - pops or something in Chinatown and bought it for a party, but I new I really wanted the container for still life club!! The clubbers did an amaaazing job on the tequila bottle in SLC #1, so I thought I'd bring one back into the pose. Also those fake flowers made a come-back. A few of us remembered doing a really bad painting with them in it like, a year ago!

My week #1 - not crazy about the composition, but  I'll work on it next week anyway.

One of my favorite things about Still Life Club is the walk home. The streets are always empty and there's always some neat stuff to look at...

I love that someone keeps their trees in the hall...

And has put up a cool paint by numbers

Still Life Club #2 second week

Here's a re-cap of STC #2. I scrapped the painting I did in week one - it was pretty terrible. That pink shell planter gave me some problems, and the composition was really bad! The second painting is better. I don't think it's finished, but I might just leave it.

Hello friends!

Over the past year or so, I've been running a 'Still Life Club' once a week at my studio - Tuesdays  from 7 - 10pm. It started out with a couple of colleagues coming over to work on technique and have a cocktail. It's since turned into a drop-in for anyone who wants to have fun and paint. The set-up changes every two weeks, and I try to keep it fun & funky and just a little harI'm excited to announce that we'll be having our very first show as a group. Please come out for a glass of wine on Thursday March 14th ( 7-10pm) or stop by for a coffee anytime during the show.
It's up at a charming cafe in Roncesvalles Villiage called Balluchon ( 221 Sorauren at Wright Ave.), for the whole month. We might even be changing it up towards the end of the month, so be sure to come by again!

Ehrling and I will also be showing some of our 'plein air' paintings.

Hope to see you at the opening!
